Linebacker Nick Roach, who began his career in the AFC West, is returning there.
Roach has agreed to terms on a contract with the Oakland Raiders, a league source said.
After going undrafted out of Northwestern, Roach was signed by the San Diego Chargers. After they released him, Roach signed with the Bears, and he’s started 59 games.
The Bears were interested in re-signing him but appeared lukewarm in their interest. Upward of 10 teams expressed an interest, but the Raiders convinced him to visit first.
Asked what he was looking for in free agency, Roach recently told the Sun-Times, “Just best overall situation.
“You take everything into consideration, like quality of life, teammates, coaches, chances of winning.”
