That didn’t take long.
ESPN’s Samantha Steele and Vikings quarterback Christan Ponder met earlier in the year on the set of “College Gameday.” After dating for a few months, they got engaged two weeks ago. On Monday, they exchanged wedding vows in St. Croix County Court in Hudson, Wis.
A Minnesota quarterback getting married in Wisconsin? Ponder says he knows some Vikings fans won’t be happy that their quarterback decided to get married across the border, but he was just trying to keep it quiet.
He says they wanted to get married before the holidays “and for some other personal reasons” and that it will not distract him from the game against Houston on Sunday. Ponder calls it the biggest game of his career, with the Vikings chasing down a playoff berth.
As expected, the celebrity couple was met with snark in the Twitter reception line, which caused the outspoken Steele to tweet: “Twitter is so tricky. Who knew that “she’s pregnant” & “they’ll be divorced soon” are just the 2012 version of “congrats”! Thx guys! :)”
