Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter dressed for practice Wednesday but remains day-to-day for the team’s season finale Saturday at Illinois.
‘‘He was out there today,’’ Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald said. ‘‘Felt good to see him. That’s about all you’re going to get.’’
Colter didn’t appear to practice with the offense, and how much he did in individual drills wasn’t clear. Colter, who also plays receiver, was knocked out of NU’s game Saturday against Michigan State in the first quarter. His injury is listed as an upper-body issue, but it appears he injured his right (throwing) shoulder on the play.
‘‘I’m progressing,’’ Colter said. ‘‘Just trying to get healthy. Playing it by ear. I still don’t know what the final decision will be, but I’m doing everything I can to play on Saturday.’’
Colter will have some input, but Fitzgerald and the Wildcats’ medical staff will make the final call. — Herb Gould
