Updated: December 24, 2013 6:20AM

Loyola blew a 17-point second-half lead in a 67-63 loss to host Portland (Ore.) State in the first round of the Portland State tournament.

“This is a heartbreaking, disappointing and gut-wrenching loss,” Loyola coach Porter Moser said. “It’s about knowing how to win. We’ve got to get through this growth period and bounce back.”

The Ramblers, who were led by Jeff White’s 17 points, shot 51 percent for the game but committed 16 turnovers.

Loyola led 37-20 early in the second half, but Vikings runs of 13-2 and 24-12 put them in the lead with 3:10 to play.

The Ramblers play UC-Davis on Saturday.
