The new Big East will announce its membership and television deal Wednesday at a press conference in New York, which could become the headquarters of the new league.
Presidents from the seven departing Big East schools will take part with executives from Fox Sports Media and Madison Square Garden to announce the expected long term broadcast deal to air conference games beginning this fall.
The new Big East will continue to hold its basketball conference tournament in Madison Square Garden.
At the same time, officials are expected to announce Butler and Xavier will be part of the league, with Creighton’s membership to follow soon.
The ten-team league will form on July 1 and begin play this fall.
Earlier Tuesday, the remaining Big East schools announced a new long term deal with ESPN to air football, basketball and other non-revenue sports, called Olympic sports.
Commissioner Mike Aresco also said the new league will be renamed soon.
He said the conference is likely to remain in its current headquarters in Providence, R.I.
