NIU at Akron
Time: 11 a.m.,
Ch. 50, 1160-AM.
Records: NIU 6-1, 3-0 MAC; Akron 1-6, 0-3.
The story line: The Huskies had a 45-3 blowout victory last week against Buffalo. Don’t be shocked if the same thing
happens Saturday. The Zips have been competitive under first-year coach Terry Bowden, but Akron is headed toward another losing season. NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch has had an outstanding season and has a good chance to top 1,000 yards rushing this week.
The line: NIU by 15.
Shaw Media pick: NIU, 38-21.
BYU at
No. 5 Notre Dame
Time: 2:30 p.m., Ch. 5, 890-AM.
Records: BYU 4-3, Notre Dame 6-0.
The story line: BYU was tied with
No. 10 Oregon State in the fourth quarter last week before the Beavers pulled away,
showing a good team can solve the Cougars’ vaunted defense. It’s the dreaded trap game for the Irish, who had better not get caught looking ahead to Oklahoma.
The line: Notre Dame by 13.
Mark Lazerus’ pick: Notre Dame, 27-6.

Ch. 7, 720-AM.
Records: Nebraska 4-2, 1-1 Big Ten; Northwestern 6-1, 2-1.
The story line: Having already secured bowl eligibility for the fifth consecutive season with their sixth victory last week, the Wildcats kick off the defining stretch of their schedule against a Legends Division rival seeking revenge after NU upset Nebraska last season in Lincoln.
The line: Nebraska by 61/2.
