Condit beats angry Diaz

LAS VEGAS — Carlos
Condit won the UFC
interim welterweight title
and earned a shot at
injured champion Georges St-Pierre with a unanimous decision over Nick Diaz in the main event at UFC 143.

Two judges scored the five-round fight 49-46, and the third had it 48-47.

‘‘Hats off to Nick Diaz,’’ Condit said. ‘‘He’s a warrior. I’ve got nothing but admiration and respect for how he fights.’’

Diaz let it be known he didn’t agree with the judges.

‘‘I’m not going to accept the fact that this is a loss,’’ he said angrily. ‘‘I don’t need this [bleep]. I pushed this guy back the whole fight. .  .  . I don’t want to play this game anymore.’’
