Epiphanny Prince leads team with new role

In the Sky’s season opener at Indiana, Epiphanny Prince was the offensive star.

Friday night, she played a different role – distributor.

Prince, who scored 20 points in the team’s 65-57 loss to the Fever, dished out seven assists to go along with her 11 points against Connecticut.

“She’s responsible for 25 points,” said Sky coach Pokey Chatman. “Nobody’s going to talk about that. They double and she kicks it to the open person. You can see them connecting the dots and trusting each other.”

Back-to-back

Rookie Courtney Vandersloot played well against the Sun. But can she do it again tonight?

Vandersloot and her fellow Sky rookies will face their first back-to-back when they visit Washington at 6 p.m., something they didn’t have to worry about in college.

“I’m really worried about that 6 a.m. flight,” Vandersloot joked. “It’s pretty early, but I’m excited to see how everybody reacts.”

Notes

With her free throw at the 7:44 mark of the second quarter, Michelle Snow became the seventh player in WNBA history to reach 2800 points, 2000 rebounds and 300 blocks in her career … Chatman inserted Vandersloot and Cathrine Kraayeveld into the starting lineup for Dominique Canty and Tamera Young.
