If Dwight Howard is coming to the Bulls, maybe he can charter a flight with Brett Favre and Albert Pujols.
The NBA and MLB’s hot stove has been serving up enough rumors to fuel the Internet’s continuous news cycle. Throw in the Bears quarterback crisis and it’s hard to know which sports celebrities are coming and which are going.
While the NBA’s lockout-shortened preseason just so happens to coincide with baseball’s Winter Meetings, the Bulls may not feel the same urgency the Cubs and Sox do to get a deal done. This is a team that boasted the NBA’s best regular-season record, after all, before being bounced from the Eastern Conference Finals by the Miami Heat last season.
While ‘Beat the Heat’ is the mantra at the Berto Center as the Bulls prepare to open training camp Friday, management is likely hesitant to give up the two or three starters required to acquire Howard, especially when what the Bulls need most is a shooting guard who can create a shot, let Derrick Rose play off the ball and help defend Dwyane Wade in the playoffs.
