Monday proved to be something old and something new for the Bulls, as the organization announced that they officially signed veteran guard Kirk Hinrich, as well as second-round pick Cameron Bairstow.

The Hinrich news broke during the opening weekend of Summer League play, and was a huge get as far as coach Tom Thibodeau and the front office were concerned, especially with the uncertainty that now seems to follow Derrick Rose.

“Kirk has always been a big part of creating the professional culture we want day in, day out surrounding our club,’’ general manager Gar Forman said in a statement. “He helps our team in so many ways and Kirk had other opportunities elsewhere, but we are very happy he chose to remain in a Bulls uniform.’’

As for Bairstow, the rookie’s physical play was on full display throughout Summer League play, and caught the eye of the entire coaching staff.

“We like Cameron’s combination as a player with his size, energy and physicality,’’ Forman said. “He is a hard worker who will only get better with time.’’
