PHOENIX – DeMarcus Cousins had his say on Monday night, calling Mike Dunleavy a “clown,’’ and after Tuesday night’s win over the Suns, Dunleavy responded.
“He called me a clown? I would like to respond but clowns can’t talk. So I’ll mime or make him some animal balloons or something,’’ Dunleavy said. “Oh, man. That’s the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black. Honestly, I’ve never been called that before. I guess there’s a first time for everything. I don’t have much to say about that.’’
The Cousins-Dunleavy rivalry started last season, when the temperamental center was given a flagrant 2 and ejected after elbowing Dunleavy. It carried over to Monday, as Cousins and the Bulls veteran again had two bumping incidents.
“I think his reputation speaks for itself,’’ Dunleavy said. “He’s got a short fuse and is easily irritated. You can’t really breathe on the guy without him flipping out. That kind of stuff happens. He’s susceptible to that and probably will be for the rest of his career.
“I haven’t had any issues with anybody in this league. I’m just going to leave it at that.’’
