Noah finished in a tie at the center position with the Knicks’ Tyson ChandlerFor the first time in his career, Bulls center Joakim Noah was voted to the NBA’s all-defensive first team. . Rounding out the first team were Heat forward LeBron James, Thunder forward Serge Ibaka, Grizzlies guard Tony Allen and Clippers guard Chris Paul.
With Noah anchoring the middle, the Bulls defense was third for points allowed (92.9) this season. Noah made the second team in 2011.
The second team: Celtics guard Avery Bradley, Grizzlies guard Mike Conley, Spurs forward Tim Duncan Pacers forward Paul George and Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.
The voting was done by the league coaches. Interestingly, Gasol was named the league’s defensive player of the year last week by a media vote.
