Rose going with the flow on the road
Bulls rookie guard Derrick Rose is going through his first extended road trip, and he has no intention of letting it slow the progress has made him one of the top guards in the league.
Rose has heard about the toll a road trip such as this can take on the body and mind, but he's coping.
“You hear about it, they tell you about it, and you talk about it before you start playing," Rose said. “You have to experience it to understand what it’s all about.
"I have great teammates and coaches that are very helpful in showing me how to prepare myself mentally and physically, and they are helping me stay sharp.”
Rose said getting accustomed to playing in the league is a case of basic math.
“In high school we played 30, in college we played 40, and now I’m going to 80 games," he said. "That’s a big difference. You have to get your rest, eat right, and take of your body.”
Rose also benefits from his brother Reggie joining him. “I am not taking anything for granted," Derrick Rose said. "I asked Reggie to come on this first trip with me. He’s my big brother, one of my best friends, and a drill sergeant all wrapped up in one."
Rose said he has one thing on his mind. “All I want to think about how I will be able to help the team get right. I feel as though I’m making great progress, I’m starting to react more and cutting out all that over-thinking about trying not to make mistakes. I just want to be natural and let it flow."
