Former White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle ’s love of dogs almost prevented him from signing with the Miami Marlins, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The paper said the Miami-Dade County ban on pit bulls had Buehrle, who owns an adopted pit bull along with three Vizlas, think twice about signing “if it came down to not finding a house [where all his canines could live].’’ Buehrle, his wife, two children and pets found a home in neighboring Broward County. Buehrle and his wife, “It’s kind of ridiculous that because of the way a dog looks, people will ban it,’’ Buehrle told the paper. “Every kind of dog has good and bad, and that depends on the handlers. If you leave a dog outside all the time, it’ll be crazy. Slater [his dog] would never do anything
harmful.’’
