GLENDALE, Ariz. — Manager Robin Ventura said that right-hander Felipe Paulino, left-hander Jose Quintana, right-hander Erik Johnson and lefty John Danks will follow ace lefty Chris Sale in the White Sox starting rotation.

“You break up the lefties and righties,’’ Ventura said “We feel comfortable going with that.”

The starting pitchers have been penciled in since before spring training. The only question was the order in which they will pitch to start the season. The Sox opener is Monday against the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field.

Ventura also confirmed that Adrian Nieto has made the team as the backup catcher to Tyler Flowers. Hector Gimenez was the other option.

“Taking care of the pitcher first is a major concern and he does a very good job,’’ Ventura said. “He does a good job of that.’’
