Baseball will define how instant-replay reviews will be handled next season over the winter. But a play such as the inside-the-park home run Friday by Ian Kinsler might not be reviewable.

‘‘I think that’s more of a judgment [call],’’ White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. ‘‘I don’t even know if that’s reviewable.

‘‘I haven’t read exactly how it’s going to go because right now it doesn’t matter. If they institute it, I’ll polish up on it.’’

Kinsler scored when his ball rolled under the mats along the left-field foul line, hidden from the view of Dayan Viciedo. Ventura was ejected after arguing.

Ventura said instant replay will affect the game ‘‘because it’s a tool for managers to use. Whether you get it right or get it wrong, I think guys are going to be able to use it, and you’re going to find out if it was the right call or not. We’re going to have to work out how it’s exactly used.

‘‘We’ve had a few plays in the last three or four games where you’re probably going to take a shot at it and get a replay of it. As long as they get it right in the end, that’s what you’re shooting for.”

Brotherly love

Jordan Danks’ homer in the fourth inning Sunday that broke a 2-2 tie marked the first time since June 3, 1955, that a brother homered for another who was pitching in a game. According to Elias, the last time it happened was when catcher Billy Shantz did it for Bobby Shantz with the Kansas City Athletics against the Boston Red Sox.

‘‘It’s cool,’’ John Danks said. ‘‘They had just tied us 2-2 and took the momentum, but it was extra special because it was Jordan. He picked us up.

‘‘We don’t take it for granted. We know it’s special. It’s fun to see your little brother having some success in the big leagues.’’

September thoughts

The Sox will have some September call-ups when rosters are allowed to expand. The important factor will be finding playing time for them.

‘‘They’re going to have to get in there, and we’re going to have to give them opportunities to play,’’ Ventura said.

‘‘How much? We’ll see how that goes.’’

Outta here

Bench coach Mark Parent was ejected by crew chief Jerry Layne as the lineups were exchanged.

‘‘It was leftover stuff from the weekend,’’ said Ventura, who was referring to the Kinsler homer controversy and an out call at home Saturday against Alexei Ramirez.

It was Parent’s second ejection this season.
