Rockies 3, sox 1
For the record
The White Sox (12-17) lost for the fourth time in five games. Their only run came on Adam Dunn’s fifth homer, an opposite-field shot against left-hander Mark Reynolds in the ninth inning. John Danks (0-4) tuned up for Opening Day throwing six innings (69 pitches), allowing one run and three hits with no walks. “It’s always good to finish strong,’’ said Danks, whose ERA was 2.08 over his final two starts.
He gone
Leadoff man Alejandro De Aza was caught stealing for the fifth time in eight attempts, this time on lefty Drew Pomeranz’s pickoff.
Bat cave
The Sox have scored six runs over the last three games. Paul Konerko’s leadoff triple in the seventh was wasted when Alex Rios popped out and Tyler Flowers (called) and Kosuke Fukudome struck out.
In closing
The only personnel decision to be announced is the closer. “There’s plenty of time going to Houston [for exhibitions Tuesday and Wednesday],” manager Robin Ventura said. Signs point to Matt Thornton getting a second chance, with Addison Reed , Jesse Crain and Hector Santiago in waiting if it doesn’t work.
On deck
Sox at Reds (13-16), 3:05 p.m., CSN, 670-AM. Jake Peavy , Reed, Thornton and Santiago are scheduled to pitch.
