Bill Zwecker, a man more comfortable on the red carpet than the ballfield, bravely warmed up his throwing arm to hurl the first pitch at the Cubs-Reds game Wednesday at Wrigley Field.
“You get out there, and [the distance to home plate] is a lot longer than you think it’s gonna be,” said the Sun-Times celebrity columnist, who took the mound as a guest of the Harry Caray’s restaurants.
While admitting his pitch was a little wild, Zwecker noted, “At least I didn’t bounce it in front of the plate.”
Even better, he heard nobody boo.
