Cubs place Marcus Mateo on 15-day DL

The Cubs made it official placing right-handed pitcher Marcus Mateo on the 15-day disabled list and calling up right-hander Chris Carpenter from Iowa.
The team also announced the call-up of right-hander Ramon Ortiz, who will start tonight against the Nationals. Casey Coleman was sent back to Iowa to make room for Ortiz.
Ortiz, who will wear number 32, is 85-82 with a 4.93 ERA in 274 major league appearances.
