The Chicago Cubs placed right-handed pitcher Kerry Wood on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 9) with a blister on his right index finger and activated infielder Jeff Baker from the 15-day disabled list, the team announced on Monday.
Baker will be available for Monday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.
Wood is 1-3 with a 2.25 ERA in 24 relief appearances with the Cubs this season. He has struck out 21 batters and walked 10 in 24 innings.
Baker returns to the Cubs after missing the last 15 days with a left groin strain. He played in three games with Triple-A Iowa on a rehab assignment and batted .300 with one double, one triple and one RBI this weekend against Round Rock. Baker is batting .368 with seven doubles, one home run and 14 RBI in 31 games for the Cubs.
