Cubs starter Andrew Cashner left his first start Tuesday with one out in the sixth inning after experiencing stiffness in his right shoulder. Cashner felt the problem on the last pitch to the last batter he faced, Willie Bloomquist, who walked.
Cashner and the Cubs were leading the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1 at the time. Cashner gave up a solo home run in the third to Ryan Roberts and only one other single in the fourth before the injury.
Jeff Samardzija came in to relieve Cashner.
