Cubs recap: Brewers 5, Cubs 3
At the plate: The leadoff hitters for the Cubs (0-2) have reached base in three of six plate appearances the first two games after Reed Johnson’s two-hit performance Monday. Tyler Colvin had a triple that drove in a first-inning run. It was his first hit of the spring.
On the mound: The battle for the fourth and fifth starter jobs got under way with Randy Wells surviving a first-inning error by Carlos Pena to get a double play and pitch an impressive two innings — followed by a one-rocky, one-good pair of innings by Andrew Cashner.
