The Cubs and White Sox are among five teams who have made formal offers to Japanese free-agent pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, according to a report out of Japan.

Nikkan Sports reported the Yankees, Dodgers and Diamondbacks are the other three, with all the teams offering more than $100 million for six years.

Nikkan Sports reported the Diamondbacks’ offer at six years and $120 million, which would be the largest in club history. The Yankees and Dodgers made similar offers, according to the report.

Tanaka, 25, was 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA for the Rakuten Golden Eagles in 2013. He is 99-35 with a 2.30 ERA in his seven-year career.

Tanaka must sign with a team by Friday.
