MIAMI – The Cubs got their sixth straight quality start from a surging rotation and just enough hitting Saturday night to beat the Miami Marlins 3-2 for their third straight victory and fourth in five games.
Left-hander Travis Wood didn’t get the victory, but he pitched six innings, allowing only two runs, keeping up a stellar April run of starting pitching that has the rotation’s ERA at 3.02 – second in the majors.
Relievers Kameron Loe, James Russell, Carlos Marmol and Kevin Gregg combined for three scoreless innings to finish it off and run the bullpen’s streak of strong outings to 10 straight games – with a 1.03 ERA and five saves in that span.
