Cubs 8,
Angels 1

For the record

Minor-league left-hander Chris Rusin threw 51/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits without a walk and lowering his ERA to 0.90 (10 innings). Rusin is expected to open the season at Class AAA Iowa.

E-fficiency?

The Cubs’ infield committed errors at three positions on one of the final days of a spring training that emphasized fundamentals. The upshot: None led to any runs.

Leadoff watch

New leadoff man David DeJesus, who got off to a slow start this spring, singled leading off the first inning and opened a three-run sixth by dragging a bunt single down the first-base line.

Pen watch

Bullpen favorite Shawn Camp got the final two outs of the sixth, then pitched a 1-2-3 seventh. He struck out three, including two in the seventh. Camp was the only Cubs pitcher in the game still in big-league camp.

On deck

Cubs (15-16) at Diamondbacks (13-17), 3:10 p.m., cubs.com (audio). Jay Jackson, Kerry Wood and Manny Corpas are scheduled to pitch. No. 3 starter Jeff Samardzija tunes up for his season debut April 8 with a start on the minor-league side.
