Alex Rodriguez struck out looking on a nasty breaking ball from Matt Lindstrom with a 3-2 count in the top of the eighth. He finished the night 1-for-4, hitless in his last three at-bats after his second-inning single in an 8-1 loss to the Yankees in his return.

He came up for his third at-bat in the top of the sixth inning and took a 2-1 slider from Jose Quintana to left field for a fly out to Casper Wells.

Rodriguez hit a deep fly ball to center field on a 1-1 pitch in the top of the fourth inning for his second at-bat. He swung through a first-pitch fastball, then watched a breaking ball low before the deep fly out on a fastball.

He singled to left on a 2-0 count in his first at-bat of 2013 to lead off the second.

The Yankees third baseman hit a looping liner just in front of diving White Sox leftfielder Casper Wells for the base hit.
