1. Through Wednesday, the Sox were 23-29 against righties and the Cubs 19-28 vs. RHP.

2. Sox righties had a 4.11 ERA, Cubs righties 4.18.

3. Sox righties were hitting .249, 10th in the American League. Cubs righties were hitting .228, 14th in the National League.

4. Jeff Samardzija was tied (with Justin Masterson) for third in the majors for righties with 58 strikeouts of other righties. Yu Darvish led with 66 and A.J. Burnett had 60. Darvish also led with 71 strikeouts of lefties.

5. Paul Konerko is the righty you want up with runners in scoring position. His .352 average was fifth in the AL; Miguel Cabrera was destroying the world with a .463 average. Starlin Castro was hitting .268 with runners in scoring position, the best-hitting Cubs righty.

6. Gavin Floyd leads all active Sox righties with 63 wins in a Chicago uniform; his next win ties him with Early Wynn. Jeff Samardzija leads all active Cubs righties with 25 wins, followed by Carlos Marmol’s 23.

7. Jake Peavy and Scott Feldman lead all Chicago righties this season with six wins each.

8. Edwin Jackson (3-9) has a 5.49 ERA. The Cubs record for the worst righty ERA is held by Guy Bush (15-10), who had a 6.20 ERA in 1930.

9. Switch-hitting Dioner Navarro had been to the plate 23 times as a righty and was hitting .556 (10-for-18).


1. Entering the weekend, the Blue Jays’ Edwin Encarnacion led all righties with 15 homers against righties. Miguel Cabrera and Nelson Cruz each had 14.

2. Why can’t we get players like this? The Rangers’ Jeff Baker led all righties with eight homers off lefties.

3. Yadier Molina led all right-handed batters with a .367 batting average against righties. Everth Cabrera led all right-handed batters with a .414 batting average against lefties.

4. Dan Haren is the righty who has given up 11 homers to other righties, and Jeremy Guthrie is the righty leader by giving up 11 homers to lefties.

5. Reds righties led the majors with 37 wins; White Sox righties had the fewest in the American League with 17.

6. Athletics righties led the majors by drawing 286 walks; White Sox righties had the fewest in the AL with 165.

7. Adam Wainwright and Max Scherzer were the righties with the most wins (10).

8. Yadier Molina led all righty catchers with a .362 batting average.

9. Righty Doug Fister already has hit 12 batters this season. Since 2000, the most HBP by a righty was Kerry Wood’s 13 for the 2003 Cubs.
