HOT CORNER: Danica Patrick’s heart isn’t limited to NASCAR

Even if she weren’t to run the Indianapolis 500 next season, Danica Patrick still has unfinished business in an Indy car at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
‘‘I’d like to do it,’’ she told USA Today before Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway. ‘‘I think it would be a huge thing as far as to say something that I’ve done, and I think it would be something that if I did it, it would be because I had a chance to win.
‘‘That’s great because it’s Indy. I’ve come close. It would be nice to finish that off. I always thought I’d win there. If I don’t, no regrets. I’ve had great races there. I’ve had a great track record.’’
Patrick became the first woman to lead the Indy 500 when she finished fourth as a rookie in 2005. She has six top-10s in seven starts at Indy, with a career-best third in 2009.
New NFL coaches book revisits “Spygate” scandal
A new book by New York Daily News columnist Gary Myers is sure to get plenty of attention in NFL locker rooms this week.
According to a Boston Globe story, Coaching Confidential: Inside the Fraternity of NFL Coaches, which comes out Tuesday from Crown Publishing, has plenty of inside stories on Sean Payton, Joe Gibbs, Tony Dungy and Andy Reid and numerous other behind-the-scenes stories on some of the biggest coaching names in the business.
One tale the Globe story previews is New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s reaction to the team’s 2007 ‘‘Spygate’’ taping scandal.
‘‘How much did this help us on a scale of 1 to 100?’’ Kraft reportedly asked Patriots coach Bill Belichick when the story came to light.
‘‘One,’’ Belichick replied.
‘‘Then you’re a real schmuck,’’ Kraft said he told Belichick.
The book also goes into Kraft’s relationship with Belichick’s predecessors, Bill Parcells and Pete Carroll, and the importance of trust in those roles.
