The Cardinals have asked the Phillies permission to speak with former Cubs great Ryne Sandberg about their vacant managerial position, according to a report by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
The report surfaced moments after the Cubs fired Mike Quade and revealed that their new manager would need big-league experience.
Sandberg is the manager of Lehigh Valley, the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate.
The Phillies reportedly have granted the Cards permission to speak with the Hall of Famer, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com
