White Sox’ Paul Konerko makes AL All-Star team

White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko will join teammate Carlos Quentin on the American League All-Star team after being voted on to the roster via the fans’ online Final Vote tally released today.

With more than 8.4 million votes, Konerko topped Victor Martinez of the Detroit Tigers, Alex Gordon of the Kansas City Royals, Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles and Ben Zobrist of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Konerko will be part of the AL roster for the 82nd Annual All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 12 in Phoenix. He is hitting .319 this season and is among league leaders in RBI (64, 4th), home runs (22, 4th), OPS (.961, 4th), slugging percentage (.572, 4th) and average (.319, 6th).


American League
