Bulls add bust at United Center for Scottie Pippen

Now it’s Scottie Pippen’s turn to be honored with a sculpted memorial.

At halftime of tonight’s Eastern Conference showdown against the Boston Celtics at the United Center, the Bulls will unveil a bronze bust of the Hall of Fame forward.

“It’s so great the way the Bulls have shown appreciation to players who achieved so much for them down through the years,” Pippen said. “This is the greatest honor I could receive from my [17-year] NBA career.”

He’s had many honors. He teamed with Michael Jordan to lead the Bulls to six championships, was named one of the NBA’s 50 greatest players, won two Olympic gold medals and had his No. 33 Bulls jersey retired.

Jordan has a sculpted likeness of him outside the United Center. Pippen’s bust was sculpted by Omri and Julie Rotblatt-Amrany, the same artists who sculpted Jordan. It will be on the 100-level concourse of the UC by Gate 7.

“There is no better way to pay tribute to him than with a permanent bust,” owner Jerry Reinsdorf said in a team release.
