Former Cubs manager Dusty Baker still has a bad taste in his mouth over his stay in Chicago, not to mention a lingering foul odor.
In a story about the struggles of trying to win on the North Side, Baker told FOX Sports: “At the very end, somebody took a dump right where I stood in the dugout every day, That was the low point. The grounds crew guy cleaned it up. He said, ‘Oh, I think it’s dog crap.’ I said, ‘No it ain’t. That’s human crap.’”
Baker said the “crap” incidents happened around the same time he was receiving racially-charged phone calls and letters.
Baker, who managed the Cubs from 2003 to 2006, came close to breaking the Cubs’ championship drought when his team was within five outs of making the World Series in 2003. He finished his tenure with a 322-326 record.
