Peppers fined for Rodgers hit

Updated: September 24, 2012 6:25AM

The NFL fined Bears defensive end Julius Peppers $10,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Peppers might have caught a break. Before this season, the NFL placed a priority on protecting quarterbacks, taking strong action against hits such as the one Peppers delivered.

The Bears were slapped with a 15-yard penalty on the play.

Rodgers was dogged afterward by questions about whether he suffered a concussion, but he dismissed that speculation Wednesday.
