Ditka softens stance on ‘Redskins’

Mike Ditka refused to back down to the liberals who fight for the abolishment of the nickname “Redskins,’ but the ESPN analyst and former Bears coach admits he would be willing to change his stance on the term “if an American Indian says it’s offensive.”

During an interview on Friday for his Chicago Sun-Times column, Ditka was asked about his controversial comments earlier in the week to the Redskins Historian web site. During that interview, Ditka remained steadfast on his belief in the nickname “Redskins” and blamed the debate on “all the political correct idiots in America.”
