Ronald Belisario redeems himself with save against Orioles

BALTIMORE — A day after giving up a walk-off home run to the Baltimore Orioles’ Chris Davis to extend the White Sox’ losing streak to five, Ronald Belisario received a vote of confidence from manager Robin Ventura and went on to notch his eighth save in 11 chances in the Sox’ 4-2 win.

There aren’t many options in the Sox’ bullpen. Daniel Webb may be viewed as a future closer candidate, but the Sox don’t want to rush the rookie. Javy Guerra has 29 career saves, but Ventura said it’s not time to ‘‘experiment.’’

‘‘Right now, you stick with him,’’ Ventura said before the game, in which Belisario pitched the ninth, allowing two hits. ‘‘If we’re winning tonight, he’s going back out there. That’s just the way it is.’’

Belisario’s ERA went up to 5.50 after Davis’ three-run homer Monday.

‘‘He’s confident enough. I have confidence in him that he can put that behind and he can continue to throw,’’ Ventura said.

Carroll in, Rienzo out of rotation

Andre Rienzo is going to the bullpen after five consecutive shaky starts. Ventura said Scott Carroll will return to the rotation when the Sox play the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Carroll was 1-3 with a 6.49 ERA over five starts. In the bullpen, he was better, with a 1.83 ERA over 192/3 innings and six appearances.

Regarding Rodon

General manager Rick Hahn remained quiet about negotiations with left-hander Carlos Rodon, the No. 3 draft pick, and will wait ‘‘until he either makes a decision to sign and starts his professional career or goes another route.’’

The deadline to sign Rodon, whose slot value is about $5.7  million, is July 18.

Hahn said Rodon projects to possibly make the starting rotation as soon as next season, ‘‘but until you get a guy in and get to know him and spend day-in and day-out with him, I think it’s a little risky to put time frames on guys.’’

Future stars

Infielder Micah Johnson and right-hander Francellis Montas were selected to compete in the All-Star Futures Game on July 13 at Target Field. Johnson (U.S. team) is batting .308 between Class AA Birmingham and Class AAA Charlotte. Montas (World) is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA for Class A Winston-Salem.
