Marian Hossa out 2 to 3 weeks with upper-body injury

Updated: April 5, 2014 6:21AM

Marian Hossa will miss two to three weeks with an upper-body injury suffered Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Soldier Field, coach Joel Quenneville said Monday. Hossa was injured on a hit by the Penguins’ Craig Adams along the boards.

Brandon Saad will take Hossa’s spot on the top line with Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews. Peter Regin will be back in the lineup and might center the third line with Andrew Shaw moving to right wing. Quenneville wouldn’t rule out a call-up, either, possibly recently acquired Pierre-Marc Bouchard.

‘‘There’s going to be some quality ice time shared among the guys,’’ Quenneville said. ‘‘I thought Saad did a real good job up on that line there as the game progressed the other day.’’

Quenneville said the injury to Hossa won’t change the Hawks’ mind-set going into the trade deadline Wednesday.

‘‘I think we’re fine,’’ he said. ‘We like where we’re at, and we’ll see how it all sorts out.’’

Pad-gate

First, goalie Corey Crawford’s Stadium Series mask never showed up. Now, his pads are missing.

Crawford said his usual white pads apparently were stolen from Soldier Field. He was wearing specially made black pads against the Penguins and was forced to wear them again at practice.

‘‘This is crazy,’’ he said. ‘‘I’ve never seen this before. I’ve never heard of this before. It’s crazy, man. The trainers are all stunned that it happened. Honestly, I told every guy, and some of the guys didn’t believe it happened.’’
