After her rookie season in the WNBA, Sky star Elena Delle Donne opted not to play in Europe during the offseason, choosing instead to help the team build its brand in Chicago. Now she will get a chance to do it nationally.
The NBA announced Delle Donne will play in the All-Star Celebrity Game on Feb. 14 in New Orleans. Delle Donne, a unanimous selection as the WNBA’s rookie of the year, will be joined by Tulsa Shock guard Skylar Diggins and other celebrities, including Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon and U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Don’t be jealous
The Fire is in the middle of its first training camp
under new coach Frank Yallop, and the timing couldn’t be any better.
Instead of battling through Chicago’s latest
polar vortex, the Fire is spending the first part of camp in Ave Maria, Fla., along the Gulf Coast. The National Weather Service’s forecast there for Thursday is a high of 74 degrees with a 60 percent chance of rain.
The Fire opens its preseason at 10 a.m. Sunday against Florida Gulf Coast University in Ave Maria.
It has been awhile since the Wolves played a home game, but they finally will get a chance to skate on home ice when they face Iowa Wild on Saturday.
The Wolves will end a five-game road trip Friday against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The Wolves are 11-7-1 on home ice and have won eight of their last nine games at Allstate Arena.
