Northwestern redshirt freshman Malin Jones has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, coach Pat Fitzgerald said after Wednesday’s practice.
Though the suspension is “indefinite,” Fitzgerald indicated his hope would be that Jones returns to the team for spring practices.
Jones was heavily recruited out of Joliet Catholic but has struggled to find his role with the Wildcats this season. He broke camp as a running back but was recently moved to superback where he has seen playing time behind starter Dan Vitale.
For the duration of the season Jones is expected to work out with the team’s sports performance staff. Should Northwestern become bowl eligible, he may return to practice.
