1. We are not seeing ‘‘Bears’’ defense this season. What do they need to do to get going?

Tackling. They just need to tackle better. They need to force on the strong side, they need better containment on the weak side, and they need to make tackles. They’re doing a good job at taking the ball away, but that’s not always going to happen.

2. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Marc Trestman is doing the same things with Jay Cutler that he did in Denver when Cutler was a Pro Bowl quarterback. But what happened in the interim?

The components of the offense change. I think they were trying to push the ball downfield and make big plays, and that hurt him. Now I think Marc’s got him releasing the ball quicker, making good decisions and not turning it over. You have to understand, every pass is not going to be a completion. And every pass can’t be a home run ball. They have Jay making the short passes, controlling the ball and putting points on the board.

3. What’s been the problem with Julius Peppers?

He’s not healthy. I don’t care how good you are — if you have an injury, it’s going to affect you. He’ll be OK. He still has a lot left in the tank.

4. You are down six points with under two minutes to go, and you can take Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning as your quarterback. Whom do you choose?

That’s unfair. There are so many good quarterbacks these days. I think the quarterbacks right now are the best they’ve ever been. Part of that is the evolution of the passing game. I really couldn’t pick one of those guys. I love Rodgers. I love Peyton. How about [Drew] Brees? I love him, too. And what Brady did last week was amazing. He threw an absolute perfect pass under pressure in the only spot it could be thrown. They’re all great.
