Like Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, general manager Gar Forman feels the criticism thrown at Derrick Rose for sitting out the entire season to recover from his torn left anterior cruciate ligament has been unfair.

“I think some of it wasn’t fair,’’ Forman said. “And we’ve said all along, from [board chairman] Jerry Reinsdorf on down, that he wasn’t going to come back until he was 100 percent ready to play. And thus both him and us never felt that he was at that point, so I think he took some hits that were unfair.

“At the same time we were going to take a big-picture view of this thing, not a short-picture view, and we said that from Day One. If he wasn’t back to that point we were certainly fine with him missing the season and being ready to go. Because we feel he’s going to be a key, key part of what we’re doing for the next 10 years.’’
