LeBron on sinking late Game 7 shot: ‘It was an MJ moment’
When LeBron James sank a jumper to put the Heat up four with 28 seconds to play in Game 7 of the Finals against the Spurs, he thought of Michael Jordan.
‘‘It was an MJ moment,’’ James told Sports Illustrated.
But after a pause, James changed his mind.
“It was an LJ moment,’’ he said.
That statement is another way James, who Phil Jackson and Scottie Pippen have said may be better than His Airness, has tried to differentiate himself from Jordan.
In his interview with Sports Illustrated, James said he almost didn’t have his LJ moment because he had struggled with his outside shot, and coaches had to encourage him to shoot more.
“Even the best have self-doubt at times when what they’re doing isn’t working,’’ James said. ‘‘You need a reminder.”
