Of the 32 starting QBs in the NFL, where would you rank Jay Cutler?

I don’t think you want to do that — it’s too hard. I think Jay Cutler is an outstanding quarterback and can be one of the best in football. Could he be the greatest? I don’t know what that is. But when you talk about the Mannings and [Drew] Brees and some of those people, I think Jay Cutler has every bit as much talent as anyone we’ve talked about. I think part of it is his production and the part about production is his consistency. You have to be consistent. You can’t be up and down. I think with Marc there, he’ll have a better understanding of the offense. It will be a better offense for him, where he’ll be able to get the ball to different people. I think it should make his reads a lot better. You know, the sky is the limit with Jay Cutler. It’s just a matter of will he get there.

What do the New England Patriots know about Tim Tebow that the rest of the league doesn’t ?

I’ve always felt the Patriots were one of the best organizations in football with as good of ownership and coaching as anybody. Now I know they are because they made a great decision based on what’s going to be good for their football team. The deal they made with Tebow was an outstanding deal financially, but I think the rewards they can get out of him for their football team will be much greater than that. You can’t find enough character people for your locker room. And when you find them, you have to take them.

Within a matter of days, the Bears get rid of Gabe Carimi and Evan Rodriguez. Do you like the no-nonsense approach this regime is taking ?

I think what they’re going to do is have their own people. I think that’s good. Nobody makes changes without looking at film. When you see film, either you see the results you want to see or you don’t see them. Evidently, they didn’t see them. They’re not going to get rid of a good football player for no reason. It’s important that Marc Trestman comes in there and puts his stamp on that organization. That football team has to understand who the boss is, who’s running it, what his criteria are and what his expectations are. And, if you don’t meet those, then adios.

Do you think Tiger Woods will ever break Jack Nicklaus’ record for Majors?

Can he? He can. Will he? I don’t know. He’s still a talent. The guy can play the game. The one thing about Nicklaus, though, is there were never too many highs and lows. He played the game, but he never got too upset with anything. He moved through the game, corrected what was wrong, and he went on. If you start getting upset at shots or putts not going in, you’re going to have a problem. I think that’s where Jack had a big edge on everybody. He played the game and took what the game gave him.
