ARLINGTON, Texas — White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy has been scratched from his scheduled start against the Texas Rangers tonight due to back spasms.
Hector Santiago will start in his place. Santiago, scheduled to start on Friday in Kansas City, was forced into the starting rotation because of Gavin Floyd’s elbow injury.
Floyd, left fielder Dayan Viciedo (oblique), second baseman Gordon Beckham (hamate bone) and left-hander John Danks (shoulder) are among the Sox on the disabled list. Infielder Jeff Keppinger missed four games with back spasms.
The injury woes have also reached into the team’s minor league system. Prized outfield prospect Courtney Hawkins left game last night with left shoulder strain diving for ball in the outfield. He will undergo MRI tomorrow in Winston-Salem and be evaluated by our doctors in Chicago early next week.
