Despite being clearly outclassed in a 42-14 drubbing by Alabama in the national title game, Notre Dame remained No. 1 in one BCS computer ranking.
The BCS standings are determined each week through a complex formula, which enlists the help of six computer ranking services. One of them—Colley Matrix—had Notre Dame (.973997) ahead of Alabama (.96139) in their final rankings.
