Former Houston Astros pitcher and broadcaster Jim Deshaies will be the Cubs’ TV analyst, replacing Bob Brenly, the Chicago Sun-Times has confirmed. Deshaies received a four-year deal, according to a source.
Deshaies, Dan Plesac, Eric Karros and Todd Hollandsworth were among the leading candidates for the opening.
Deshaies, 52, pitched in the major leagues from 1984 to 1995 before becoming the Astros’ TV color commentator in 1997. He will team with Len Kasper in the Cubs’ booth.
