Notre Dame men’s basketball adds 4 players on national signing day

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame has four new basketball recruits — three from northern Indiana.
Forwards V.J. Beachem and Austin Torres and guard Demetrius Jackson all signed national letters-of-intent Wednesday. Torres and Jackson are from nearby Mishawaka, Ind. Beachem is from Fort Wayne, Ind. The fourth signee is guard Steve Vasturia, who is from New Jersey and played at St. Joseph’s Prep.
Two recruiting services rank the class in the top 15.
The 6-foot-6 Beachem averaged 19.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists for New Haven High School and was an all-state selection last season.
Jackson, a 6-1 guard, averaged 22.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists at Mishawaka Marian.
The 6-6 Torres scored 10.0 points and grabbed 7.2 rebounds.
Vasturia was the Philadelphia Catholic League’s MVP and already has 1,149 career points.
