Vic Santucci of Crystal Lake will become the head of the Lake Michigan Program for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources on
Nov. 16.
The position has been unfilled since Tom Trudeau retired nearly six years ago. The program, which once
included as many as five staff, has been surviving with only biologists Steve Robillard and Dan Makauskas.
Santucci will be introduced Nov. 15 at the first Lake Michigan fisheries
informational meeting held in years. It might be a tumul-
tuous introduction, with
bizarre changes proposed for black-bass fishing on Lake Michigan.
Santucci, a district fisheries biologist in the western suburbs, is the lead guy for the IDNR locally on Asian carp. He has a master’s
degree in zoology (fisheries) from Southern Illinois.
