White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski a hall of famer?
He’s closer to making it than you might think.
But maybe not the one you’re thinking of.
Pierzynski is on a fan ballot to make one of three open spots in the Baseball Hotties Hall of Fame inaugural class of 10 of the hottest players in baseball history.
This hottie hall, paying tribute to good-looking players throughout baseball history, can be found at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory’s new exhibition, “Baseball Hotties: Studs We Love,” which celebrates “the boys of summer who make fans swoon.’’
The exhibit, open through January 13, 2013, in Louisville, Ky., includes personal items from baseball’s sexiest players. Pierzynski is featured in The Field of Dreamboats exhibits, where he emerges in life-size form in a Sox road uniform from the museum’s indoor corn field next to Derek Jeter, Curtis Granderson, Joey Votto, Josh Hamilton and Andre Ethier.
“Build it and she will come,’’ said teammate Paul Konerko, reciting the exhibit’s subtitle.
Konerko couldn’t hide a smirk.
I don’t know, what am I supposed to “say?’’ Pierzynski said at his locker, somewhat sheepishly. “I guess it’s kind of cool. You should ask these guys [Gordon Beckham and Konerko]. I’m sure they have some thoughts.’’
“He’s a beautiful man, inside and out,’’ Beckham said.
Those who agree can vote for Pierzynski at www.sluggermuseum.com/hotties/.
