Kings win in overtime, oust Canucks

Jarret Stoll scored 4:27 into overtime to give the visiting Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 victory Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks. The result enabled the Kings to wrap up the first-round series in five games and set up a matchup against the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference semifinals.
Stoll picked up a loose puck after Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis wiped out, skated in on a two-on-one and snapped a wrist shot over the blocker of goalie Cory Schneider.
Henrik Sedin scored in the first period for the Canucks, who became the fourth Presidents’ Trophy-winning team to lose in the first round of the playoffs since 2001. Brad Richardson scored in the third
period for the Kings.
Flyers eliminate Penguins
Claude Giroux wrapped up a dominant series with his sixth goal, Ilya Bryzgalov turned in a strong effort in the nets and the host Philadelphia Flyers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 to win their first-round series 4-2.
Giroux scored 32 seconds into the game, and the Flyers rolled from there. In a series in which no lead was safe, the Flyers scored the first three goals and made the edge stand up behind 30 saves from Bryzgalov.
Bruins force Game 7
Tyler Seguin scored at 3:17 of overtime, Tim Thomas made 36 saves and the reigning Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins staved off elimination with a 4-3 victory against the host Washington Capitals that tied their first-round series 3-3. Game 7 is set for Wednesday in Boston.
