Rising temperatures and longer days suggest that summer is finally just around the corner. With the change of seasons comes the opportunity for a fresh start, including a breezy, new approach to enjoying a summer beverage. So grab your favorite pair of shades and bask in the warm sunshine with these fresh experiences in summer drinking.
Experiment with your old standbys
Love an ice cold beer or a margarita on the rocks? Seeking a new perspective doesn't mean giving up your favorite drinks. Combine these two beloved beverages to make a refreshing beergarita. Tequila, beer and limeade mix together to form the perfect lake or poolside refresher.
Party on wheels
According to PedalPub, they started the first party bike business in the United States in April 2007, and now many major cities offer the chance to drink on the move. Find a dozen of your closest friends and pedal through a neighborhood near you while enjoying a summer beverage.
Drink on the run
While we know that beer causes dehydration, a study at the University of Granada in Spain suggests that beer can help the body rehydrate slightly after a workout. Never ones to fall behind, some runners are now enjoying beer during their workouts in the growing beer run craze. These tracks allow participants to stop and enjoy a glass of beer at stations along the course or to run between restaurants and pubs while savoring a pint at each location
Plan your own beer tour
Summer is all about kicking back and relaxing with friends, so at your next get-together, have each person bring a case of beer they've never sampled. According to the Brewers Association, craft brewing grew by 18 percent in volume in 2013, meaning finding new brews shouldn't be a problem. From "around the world" to "strange brews," choose a theme and perhaps you'll walk away with a new favorite.
The staff at Binny's Beverage Depot are ready to help you make the most of your summer. You can visit one of their nearly 30 locations servicing the Greater Chicago area, or call (708) 237-7660 to reach their new store in Evergreen Park.
